1. Remove fingernail polish with hairspray.
Wet the stain with cold water, then pray with hair spray. Rub with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and repeat this process as necessary until the stain lifts.
2. Remove gum from your carpet with an ice cube.
Cleaning gum from your carpet couldn’t be easier! Simply place an ice cube on the stain and peel it away. The ice helps to harden the gum so that it will be easier to pick off and remove.
3. Use an iron to get rid of hard to remove carpet stains.
Spray the carpet stain with white vinegar and water. Place a clean towel over the stain, then set your iron to the highest steam setting. Place over the towel for 5 seconds than lift the towel. Repeat this process as necessary to fully remove the stain.
4. Spray Windex on old carpet stains.
For those old, set-in carpet stains you might want to give this trick a try. First, spray the stain with Windex window cleaner and with a clean towel, rub the area vigorously until the stain lifts. Works like a charm!
5. Sprinkle baking soda on set-in carpet stains.
As many of us know, baking soda is an amazing cleaner and can help remove some of the toughest stains. To do a spot treatment, sprinkle baking soda over the area then vacuum. Using a mixture of vinegar and Dawn dishsoap, scrub the area and rinse clean.
6. Pour salt over wet stains.
While a carpet stain is still wet, pour salt over it and let sit for a few minutes. This will absorb the stain and prevent it from getting into the carpet fibers thus making it harder to remove.
7. Use hydrogen peroxide to get rid of carpet old stains.
A go-to cleaner for most stains, hydrogen peroxide is an excellect stain remover for carpets. Simply soak the stain and scrub with a clean towel or soft bristle brush. This works like magic!
