1. A vacuum
Choosing the right vacuum from the start is very important when moving into your first apartment or house. When you purchase a high-quality vacuum, you will ensure that your carpets are being properly cleaned thus making your carpet last longer and greatly reducing allergens in the air.
2. Broom and dustpan
A broom and dustpan set is mandatory when moving into your first apartment or home. These tools will help you keep your floors free from debris and a simple broom can be used for so many other tasks around the home such as cleaning baseboards or your bathtub.
3. Mop and bucket
A mop and bucket are a necessity in a new home because unfortunately, there will be spills and messes will be made. Be prepared when the time comes by having a mop and bucket ready for action.
One of my personal favorites is the O-Cedar Spin Mop which makes it insanely easily to wring the mop with a quick push of a foot pedal.
4. Rubber gloves
I always suggest getting at least two pairs of rubber gloves: one pair for the kitchen and another pair for the bathroom. This will help avoid any cross-contamination from one room to the other. Also, rubber gloves will help protect your hands from harsh chemicals while cleaning.
5. Trash can
You will need a place to keep your trash in while staying in your apartment. So invest in a large enough trash can with a lid that will make taking out the trash hassle free. Click here to learn a few trash can hacks that’ll definitely come in handy later!
