The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition conducted a study in which two groups were given two different dairy-based smoothies.
One group was given smoothies that were calorie dense and the other group was given smoothies that were made with thickening ingredients.
The two groups were tested at regular intervals of which they were asked about their satiety or how full they were feeling.
What was revealed was that the group which was given the “thicker” smoothie felt fuller longer, without regard to the caloric intake.
The scientist concluded that this phenomenon, now known as “phantom fullness” could be very effective in lowering caloric intake thus improving the overall conditions for faster weight loss.
