How to Remove Swiffer Wet-Jet Bottle Cap

I love my Swiffer Wet-Jet Spray Mop as I can use it to clean my floors without having to prepare water or have slippery wet floors.

With a toddler running around, I also enjoy being able to bring out my Swiffer to quickly clean spills and other messes.

However, I do understand that the Swiffer Wet-Jet cleaning solution can get expensive over time. As I like to save money and make the most out of what I have on hand, I decided to try to remove the top so that I can fill it with my own cleaning solution.

This hack that I’ll be sharing in this post is incredibly easy. All you will need is a pot of boiling water and a pair of fingernail clippers.

Below I will share step-by-step everything that I did to remove the top to my Swiffer Wet-Jet cleaner to make it refillable.

1. Remove stickers and place empty bottle upside down in a pot of boiling water.

Place Swiffer Wet-Jet cleaning solution upside down in pot of boiling water.

Place the emptied bottle upside down in a pot of boiling water for 30-45 seconds.

The hot water will help soften the top making it extremely easy to remove.

Simply remove the bottle from the water and unscrew the top. It should come right off!

Voila!

2. Use fingernail clippers to cut prongs inside of bottle cap.

Use a pair of fingernail clippers to cut the prongs from your Swiffer Wet-Jet bottle cap.

These little things are what keeps the cap from being unscrewed (thus prompting you to buy more solution) but we are way smarter than that!

Simply use fingernail nail clippers to clip these away. Have not fear because the lid can still be secured and screwed back on.

3. Refill with you favorite cleaning solution and screw on lid.

Now you have a refillable bottle that you can fill with anything that you like! Works perfectly without any leaks.

I hope that you find this quick and easy tutorial helpful! Happy Cleaning!
